Europe proposes USB-C as a universal charging port standard, will users be able to use Samsung chargers to charge iPhones in the future?

The European Commission announced that it is taking an important step towards combating e-waste and consumer inconvenience. The executive branch of the European Union wants to standardize charging ports and harmonize fast charging technology across all brands.     IPHONE 12 PANAMERA

Accordingly, the new amendment of the radio equipment directive published by the European Commission has proposed USB-C as a common port for all devices. Customers can charge their devices with the same USB-C charger, regardless of brand.

Samsung and other Android smartphone makers already use standard USB-C ports, but Apple doesn't, which means the European Union could soon allow iPhone users to charge their phones with Samsung charger.

The European Commission is also looking to harmonize fast charging technology, whereby device manufacturers will be able to limit charging speeds if using unbranded chargers.

The European Commission is also currently supporting the removal of chargers from the box of technology devices, which could save consumers up to 250 million euros per year (about 7,000 billion VND). Many consumers already own a wall charger, so by removing this item from retail boxes, the European Commission hopes to reduce unnecessary e-waste.

Do you hope one day all devices will use the same charging standard?
