(Hunghanzo) - Football player Son Heung Min has given "winged" words when referring to BTS, similar to how the cult group did to express their love for him.
Son Heung Min, 29, has been playing for foreign football clubs since he was 16, when he came to Germany to join Hamburger SV. In 2015, Son signed for Tottenham Hotspur for a staggering $30.2 million, making him the most expensive Asian player in history.

But despite a solid career abroad, Son has never "lost touch" with Korean culture. Not only is he close friends with Parasite star Park Seo Joon and R&B artist Crush, Son Heung Min is also a fan of BTS. And in a new interview with Pro: Direct Soccer on YouTube, he named the group "national heroes".

"Literally, I'm a big fan of BTS" - Son Heung Min shared, then explained what makes the group so special to him - "I think BTS are also national heroes.

Son said that the charm of BTS, especially on the social media platform, is "astonishing". The soccer star also emphasized that what BTS has done for Korea makes him “really proud and happy” and feels “grateful.”
"I'm so grateful they're here. They're making Korea more known. I'm a big fan of them and I hope they continue to do well."

Interestingly, this is not the first time Son Heung Min has talked about how proud he is of BTS. In an interview for Volvo Korea earlier this year, Son expressed his feelings about how BTS has made history in the UK music charts.
"They have somewhat become a support system for me, helping me overcome the difficulties of living abroad. I appreciate them and have always been their biggest fan," said Son Heung Min.
In contrast, BTS also showed support for Son Heung Min. During their show at Wembley Stadium in 2019, RM wore a “SON” cap on stage and proudly showed it off in front of the camera.
